I have never really thought of categorizing my works under specific artistic themes before, but today I realized that I do have a particular 'theme' when it comes to one aspect of my photography: pencils. The two photos on top are my most recent productions, and the three on the bottom are ones I have taken over the past two years. The set up is really simple, only three items are required: a desk lamp, a piece of printer paper and a pencil. The first of the old ones- the one with the pencil near the top of the frame- is by far my most viewed photo I have ever taken. Currently it has 1,675 views on my deviantart, and I still do not understand why this one in particular is so popular over some of my other works. One of my personal favorites is the last one with the stick men drawing and erasing their existence with a broken pencil. I have always imagined that it could turn into a very interesting animated short.
Here is what is in my camera bag! (7/29/12) - Nikon bag - Nikon D5100 - 55-200mm f/4-5.6 nikkor lens - 40mm f/2.8G Micro Nikkor lens -18-55mm f/ 3.8-5.6 kit lens - Bower fish eye lens adapter - 2 lens hoods - Flip Video and charger - SD card case - Mist spray I barely use my kit lens but I sometimes attach it to the fish eye adapter to get some fish eye shots when needed. However, since I don't generally require that service, the two items are my least used in my camera bag. My flip I use for some video work, and it's good to have just in case I need it. My two main lenses are my 40mm and my 55-200mm lenses. I mainly use the zoom for my event work where I cannot physically go up the the thing I am photographing. My 40mm macro lens is my newest addition and I have been using it for mostly my nature photography. I use the mist sprayer when I am doing some macro shots that I think need a bit more pop, and from what I've used it on it seems to work great! Yesterday I had the experience of shooting in RAW for the first time. I realize that I am late to this party, but it was interesting to get used too. This was the first photo I took in RAW, a simple leaf in my backyard. The act of importing and editing is very different that what I am accustomed to although I did eventually start getting used to it. The best way I can describe this experience is writing with my left hand when I am right handed. My business cards just arrived in the mail today. If you are brought to this website because of them, welcome! Hopefully with these I will garner more attention to my work. Well, this photo was once again taken in Montreal. There was a tree right outside my parking spot and this leaf looked so sharp in contrast to the other leaves. I love the orange tip that it has, gives it a nice ending. That trip to Montreal was a great one. This is my main website! Every so often I will update with photos that I have taken recently and the story behind them. This is the first of many updates. This photo was taken in Montreal, during a street Circus Festival. I was very happy to be at the event to take photos because of the very different imagery it produced. The event involved unicycles and trapeze acts and the crowd was very much enjoying the festivities! |
